Near Rhayader

Dolifor dates from 1672 and is situated within the historic landscape of the Elan Valley.  It is surrounded by ancient hedgerow and mature trees.  We offer self-catering as well as bed and breakfast accommodation.

We have two ensuite double bed and breakfast rooms both with beautiful views overlooking the river Elan below the house towards Rhayader.  We aim to use high quality, locally sourced ingredients where possible.  Breakfast is served in our conservatory or in the garden if preferred -weather permitting.  A hairdryer is provided and the use of an iron and/or washing machine is available on request.

The Loft is an open plan first floor self-catering apartment that sleeps 2 and is accessed via a stone staircase.  It has a fully equipped kitchen with dining area, romantic king size four poster bed in the bedroom and a sitting room with beautiful views towards Rhayader overlooking the river Elan below.  An iron and hairdryer are provided with the use of a washing machine on request.  Breakfast is available if required.

Visitors can relax in the garden and watch the many birds competing at the bird feeders along with squirrels and voles.  There are nest boxes nearby and frequently kites circling overhead.  Watch the pond life in the clear waters of our pond.

A public footpath accessed from our track leads up to Dolifor Woods close by.  Walk through the woods to the open expanses of the uplands of the Cambrian Mountains beyond.  A short walk down our track will take you to the river Elan and thence to the upper reaches of the Wye 200m away.  Rhayader and the Elan Valley Visitor Centre are each a few minutes drive away. There are many footpaths to explore in the area and Rhayader can be reached on foot in under an hour.  Cycle Route 8 is also at the bottom of our track.
