The highlight of any visit to Mid Wales must be seeing an Otter. Sightings of these beautiful wild creatures are becoming more and more frequent, whether on the River Wye, River Teme or even in the Lake at Llandrindod Wells.
Another special mammal that lives in parts of the Marteg Valley and the Elan Valley, is the delightful Water Vole while Mid Wales is also a stronghold of the very elusive Polecat.
Badgers are common in Mid Wales and there are opportunities to go badger watching when staying at some of the self-catering cottages advertised on the Natural Mid Wales web site.
The Vincent Wildlife Trust
The Vincent Wildlife Trust is a charity which works to conserve mammals, and is particularly interested to receive sightings of pine martens and polecats. Please report sightings via their website.
